  • R-MC Breaks Record with 203 on ODAC All-Academic Team

    Randolph-Macon College had a school-record 203 student-athletes named to the 2017-18 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) All-Academic Team.
  • Four Softball Yellow Jackets Named to All-State Teams
    June 21, 2018
    Four Yellow Jackets earned slots on the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) All-State teams for softball, it was announced Thursday. Junior Candace Whittemore (Montpelier, Va. / Patrick Henry) and freshman Madie Rhoads (Portsmouth, Va. / Nansemond River) earned pitching spots on the VaSID All-State First Team, while sophomore catcher Sami Davidson (Stafford, Va. / Brooke Point) earned a spot on the first team for her work behind the dish. Recent graduate Harley Jones (Brodnax, Va./Brunswick) earned a spot on the All-State Second Team at first base for her work during her senior season.
  • Program Records Reached for Softball in 2018

    With 40 wins attained for the first time, Randolph-Macon softball reached a new pinnacle in 2018 for its ever-growing program. Between its win totals, nationally top-rated statistics, significant wins, and growth together as a team, it was clear that there was a push to put Ashland and Randolph-Macon on the map for softball.
  • Softball To Host College Coaches Skills Camp

    Randolph-Macon College is proud to be hosting the College Coaches Skills Camp event on Thursday, June 21, 2018.  The camp will feature current college softball coaches from Longwood University, Hampton University, Norfolk State University, Texas Wesleyan University, Fontbonne University, Randolph-Macon College, and others.
  • Softball Finishes Season 18th In Top 25

    Randolph-Macon softball finished the season ranked 18th in the nation in the final National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Top 25 poll of the 2018 season. R-MC completed the season having been ranked as high as fourth in the poll and was ranked in each poll this season after starting the preseason just outside the Top 25.
  • Three Named To All-Region Team For Softball

    Three Yellow Jackets were named to the Atlantic Region All-Region teams it was announced Wednesday by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. Junior Candace Whittemore (Montpelier, Va. / Patrick Henry) and sophomore Sami Davidson (Stafford, Va. / Brooke Point) were named to the First Team All-Region while freshman Madie Rhoads (Portsmouth, Va. / Nansemond River) was named to the Second Team All-Regio
  • Softball Bows Out Of Tournament

    Randolph-Macon softball bowed out of the NCAA Tournament Monday afternoon after Rowan scored two wins against the Yellow Jackets, winning 7-1 and 2-1. Earlier in the day, Rowan forced a second game in the championship round of the Glassboro Regional, winning the first game 7-1. The game had been scoreless heading into the bottom of the fourth inning when it was suspended Sunday afternoon due to rain and lightning. After being picked up Monday afternoon, Rowan's offense exploded in the first game, forcing a deciding game Monday afternoon, which is set for around 1:45 PM. 
  • Softball vs Rowan Suspended In Fourth Inning

    The Randolph-Macon softball team will have to wait another day to play its championship round at the Glassboro Regional. Lightning took the teams off the field around 1:15 PM and rain took care of the rest as it created poor field conditions at Rowan University in Glassboro. 
  • Softball Move To Regional Championship In Glassboro

    Randolph-Macon softball moved into the regional championship for the third time in four years with a 3-0 win over Penn State Berks Saturday afternoon in Glassboro, New Jersey on the campus of Rowan University. It will be the first time R-MC is going into the final day with a 2-0 record and is one win away from the Glassboro Regional Title.
  • Whittemore Bats In Winning Run as Rhoads Fans Ten

    Junior Candace Whittemore (Montpelier, Va. / Patrick Henry) batted in the lone score of the game in the sixth inning as freshman starting pitcher Madie Rhoads (Portsmouth, Va. / Nansemond River) struck out ten while not allowing a walk or a run and just four hits in the #1 seeded Yellow Jackets’ 1-0 win in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on the campus of Rowan University. Rhoads secured her 13th win of the season while Whittemore tallied her tenth RBI of 2018.
  • Softball Remains Top Five Team in Latest Top 25

    Randolph-Macon softball has arrived in fifth in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Top 25 poll, released Wednesday morning. The ranking follows a week where R-MC did not play, but did earn an at-large bid and a #1 regional seed in the Glassboro, New Jersey regional, hosted by Rowan University.
  • Softball Start Times Adjusted; Team Remains Second In Regional Rankings

    The start times for Randolph-Macon’s NCAA Tournament game against the College of Staten Island in Glassboro, New Jersey on Friday, May 11 have been adjusted. Additionally, new NCAA Regional Rankings have Randolph-Macon still in second in the Atlantic Region. R-MC has remained there in each of this year’s rankings. The team also ranks fifth nationally in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Top 25 Poll. A new poll is due out tomorrow.

    The fifth-ranked Randolph-Macon softball team has been selected as an at-large bid for the NCAA Tournament. The team will face Staten Island on Friday in Glassboro, New Jersey as part of a regional hosted by Rowan University.

    Randolph-Macon softball remained in second in the latest edition of the NCAA regional rankings. The rankings are a metric that utilize wins and strength of schedule to determine possible seedings in the NCAA Tournament. R-MC is behind Old Dominion Athletic Conference champion Virginia Wesleyan and ahead of another Virginia team – Christopher Newport. The Yellow Jackets (38-5) are also ranked fifth in the nation in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Top 25 poll.

    Randolph-Macon softball remains in the top five teams in the country in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Top 25 poll, released Wednesday morning. R-MC checked in at No. 5 this week, down from No. 4 last week. Randolph-Macon has been ranked in every NFCA poll this season, except for the preseason edition, when the team started just outside the Top 25.
  • Six Yellow Jackets Honored With Softball All-ODAC Selections

    Six Randolph-Macon student-athletes were nominated to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference All-Conference softball teams, it was announced by the conference today. The nominations include one Yellow Jacket who received a top honor as freshman Madie Rhoads was named the conferences’ Rookie of the Year.
  • Roth Named To ODAC All-Tournament Team

    Junior Kerstin Roth (Yorktown, Va. / Grafton) was named to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference All-Tournament team Sunday afternoon. The announcement was made following the ODAC Championship in Salem, Va. Roth was one of 13 ODAC players named to the team.
  • No. 2 Softball Eliminated By No. 1 VWU in Salem

    Second-seeded Randolph-Macon was eliminated by the tournament’s top seed, Virginia Wesleyan in an elimination game at the Old Dominion Athletic Tournament in Salem, Va. in an extra-inning battle 6-5. Randolph-Macon will now await the NCAA Tournament field selection. The team is ranked fourth in the nation and second in the region.
  • Whittermore Named To National Player Watchlist

    Junior pitcher Candace Whittemore has been named to the 2018 Schutt Sports/NFCA Division III National Player of the Year Top 25. The 25 student-athletes are contenders for the 2018 Schutt Sports/NFCA Division III National Player of the Year award.
  • No. 2 Softball Advances To Winner’s Bracket In Salem

    Second-seeded Randolph-Macon advanced to the winner’s bracket and will face third-seeded Lynchburg tonight at 7:00 PM in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference softball tournament in Salem, Va. R-MC defeated seventh-seeded Randolph 3-0 for the third time this week.

    Second-seeded Randolph-Macon split its first day at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament as it beat Randolph 3-0 in the first round, but fell to Lynchburg in the second round 4-0.

This week’s rankings do not factor in R-MC’s win against Randolph on Monday. R-MC was also ranked fourth in the nation in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association poll this week.

    Randolph-Macon has held steady at No. 4 in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III National Top 25 poll as the team prepares for the Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament. R-MC was ranked fourth last week and has risen to that position after beginning the season as the first team just outside the Top 25 in the preseason poll.
  • Jones Named Player, Rhoads Named Pitcher of the Week in ODAC

    Two Yellow Jackets have earned honors from the Old Dominion Athletic Conference for their work in the week that ended on April 23. Senior Harley Jones (Brodnax, Va. / Brunswick) was honored as the Player of the Week while freshman Madie Rhoads (Portsmouth, Va. / Nansemond River) was named the conferences’ Pitcher of the Week. The week includes games played on Monday, April 23 as the No. 4 Yellow Jackets defeated Randolph twice, 5-0 in the first game and 6-0 in the nightcap.
  • Softball Up One Spot To No. 5 In Power Rankings

    Randolph-Macon softball is up one spot in the Fastpitch News Division III Power Rankings. R-MC was ranked sixth in last week’s poll. The team also ranked fourth in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Top 25 poll. A new poll from the NFCA is due out tomorrow.
  • No. 4 Softball Shuts Out WildCats

    No. 4 Randolph-Macon shut out the Randolph WildCats Monday afternoon in the final regular season contest for both teams. Randolph-Macon finishes its season 37-3 and 16-2 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, which is not only the team’s best regular season win total but also the program’s best win total in history.
  • Sanderford Bats In Winning Run Against Guilford

    No. 4 Randolph-Macon won a pair of game against Guilford, with sophomore Taylor Sanderford (Mechanicsville, Va. / Atlee) sending the winning run home in the bottom of the eighth inning in the afternoon’s first contest. The second game of the day was close as well, with R-MC winning on a wild pitch to walk-off a second time on the afternoon. Randolph-Macon won its 35th game of the season, matching the program record, which was set last year.  
  • Davidson Scores Five, Jones Bats In Four in Pair of No. 4 Softball Wins

    Sophomore Sami Davidson (Stafford, Va. / Brooke Point) scored five runs while senior Harley Jones (Brodnax, Va. / Brunswick) batted home four as the bats came alive for No. 4 Randolph-Macon softball in a pair of wins over Roanoke Saturday afternoon at Lord Botetourt High School in Daleville, Va.  Randolph-Macon had a team batting average of .333 or better in both of the afternoon’s contests.
  • Softball Ranked Second in NCAA Regional Rankings

    Randolph-Macon softball has been ranked second in the Atlantic regional rankings in the first round of the NCAA metric of 2018. The metric uses strength of schedule and victories to help determine seedings and host sites in the NCAA Tournament. The most recent ranking does not include Randolph-Macon’s (31-3, 10-2 ODAC) victory yesterday over the Atlantic’s No. 1 team, the Virginia Wesleyan Marlins (35-1, 13-1 ODAC). VWU is also ranked first in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Top 25 poll, while Randolph-Macon checked in at fourth in the most recent survey.
