    ASHLAND, Va. -- Randolph-Macon softball has moved its start time for Saturday's doubleheader against Roanoke. The first pitch will now be at 3:00 PM. 
  • Softball Ranked In Initial NCAA Regional Poll

    Randolph-Macon softball is ranked eighth in the initial NCAA Regional Rankings of 2019. The polling period includes games through Monday, April 15. The rankings were announced earlier this week.

    Senior pitcher Candace Whittemore (Montpelier, Va. / Patrick Henry) struck out 13 Ferrum batters, setting a new season-high as the Yellow Jackets earned a win against the Panthers Wednesday afternoon. R-MC also fell in the nightcap.
  • UPDATED: Softball Changes For Week

    ASHLAND, Va. -- Randolph-Macon Softball has made a schedule change for this week. The Yellow Jackets will now head to Ferrum on Wednesday afternoon for a 4:00 PM first pitch. Poor weather forecasts is forcing the change to R-MC's final scheduled contest. R-MC still has to make up a doubleheader with Roanoke. 
  • Seniors Make Impact On Senior Day Sweep of Randolph

    On their Senior Day, Randolph-Macon’s six seniors made their impacts known as Randolph-Macon made a sweep of the Randolph WildCats Saturday afternoon. Seniors Kerstin Roth (Yorktown, Va. / Grafton), Sarah Cimring (Chesapeake, Va. / Great Bridge), Savannah Wood (Tappahannock, Va. / Essex), Brittany LaPrade (Quinton, Va. / New Kent), Candace Whittemore (Montpelier, Va. / Patrick Henry) and Casey Abernethy (Prince George, Va. / Prince George) each had at least one productive at-bat and Whittemore earned the afternoon’s first win inside the circle.
  • Softball Postponed Saturday

    ASHLAND, Va. -- Randolph-Macon softball against Roanoke has been postponed Saturday due to weather. The Yellow Jackets and the Maroons will make the game up during this upcoming week and a time and date to be announced later.  Randolph-Macon will celebrate Senior Day tomorrow against Randolph. The doubleheader is slated to begin at 1:30 PM, but that time is subject to change due to forecasts. a

    Randolph-Macon sophomore Ali Celiberti (Powhatan, Va. / Powhatan) earned her first start inside the circle and then helped herself to the win by sending a home run over the fence in left center field in the fourth inning of the day’s second contest at Bridewater. It was one of two RBIs for Celiberti in the game. Earlier in the Tuesday afternoon matchup, Bridgewater bested Randolph-Macon in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action in the Shenandoah Valley.

    Seniors Savannah Wood (Tappahannock, Va. / Essex) and Brittany LaPrade (Quinton, Va. / New Kent) each had five RBIs on the afternoon as Randolph-Macon softball swept Shenandoah University in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action Saturday afternoon.
  • Softball Swipes Second Victory of Season Against National #1

    Randolph-Macon Softball defeated the top-ranked team in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Top 25 Poll for the second time this season. Two weeks after defeating then-No. 1 Virginia Wesleyan on March 20, the Yellow Jackets shut out a new top team -- Christopher Newport. R-MC took a 6-0 victory in the first game of the afternoon, while the Captains left with the split after a 8-4 win in the nightcap.

    No. 21 Randolph-Macon softball defeated Greensboro College 11-0 in five innings before falling in the second game, which went to extra innings. Sophomore Ali Celiberti (Powhatan, Va. / Powhatan) hit a three-run homer in the third inning of the first game, while sophomore Madie Rhoads (Portsmouth, Va. / Nansemond River) recorded eight strikeouts in the nightcap.

    Randolph-Macon senior Candace Whittemore (Montpelier, Va. / Patrick Henry) was busy striking out nine Rhode Island College batters Monday afternoon as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference was naming her Pitcher of the Week for her efforts through March 10. The week including six strikeouts each in a pair of contests over the weekend, one of which was a shutout against 12th-ranked team in the country, Rowan, last Friday.

    Head Coach Kevin Proffitt is announcing a pair of changes to his team's softball schedule for this week. Due to field conditions and forecasted rain, the Virginia Wesleyan Beach Blast, scheduled for Friday and Saturday in Virginia Beach, has been canceled. The Blast will not be made up.
