  • R-MC Again Breaks Record with 211 on ODAC All-Academic Team

    Randolph-Macon College had a school-record 211 student-athletes named to the 2018-19 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) All-Academic Team.
  • Proffitt Coach of the Year, Three Other Yellow Jackets Honored by VaSID

    Randolph-Macon softball head coach Kevin Proffitt is the Commonwealth’s College Division Coach of the Year it was revealed by the Virginia Sports Information Directors on Wednesday morning. Three other Yellow Jackets landed on VaSID All-State teams as well, including two first team selections in recent graduates Savannah Wood (Tappahannock, Va. / Essex) and Candace Whittemore (Montpelier, Va./Patrick Henry). Junior Maddie Stone (Glen Allen, Va. / Glen Allen) rounded out R-MC’s award winners with a spot on the All-State Second Team.

    Randolph-Macon senior Candace Whittemore (Montpelier, Va./Patrick Henry) has been named an honorable mention All-American by Fastpitch News. The college softball content publishers announced the teams earlier this week.
  • Softball Finishes Season Ranked In Top 10

    Randolph-Macon softball jumped into the National Fastpitch Coaches Poll Top 10 after the completion of its season, the NFCA announced Monday morning. The Yellow Jackets finished the year as the eighth-ranked team in the country.

  • Softball Wraps Season With Highest Finish Ever

    Randolph-Macon softball finished its season Friday afternoon at the Division III National Championship series. The Yellow Jackets fell to the seventh-ranked Illinois Wesleyan Titans, but ended the year with the highest-ever program finish after receiving the program’s first berth into the Championship as well as the team’s first Super Regional Championship.

    The 18th-ranked Emory Eagles scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning which was enough to nip the Randolph-Macon Yellow Jackets in the first game of the Division III National Championship series Thursday evening.
  • Softball Seeded Sixth, Draws No. 18 Emory In First Round

    Randolph-Macon softball has been seeded sixth in the upcoming Division III National Championship series in Tyler, Texas. Randolph-Macon has been paired with the third-seeded Emory Eagles. Emory was ranked 18th in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Top 25 poll. Randolph-Macon and Emory will square off at 7:30 PM Eastern Time (6:30 PM Local (Texas) Time) on Thursday, May 23. 
  • Hill Hits Winning Run For Softball In Game Two

    Randolph-Macon junior Shelby Hill (Mechanicsville, Va. / St. Margaret's) singled over the Christopher Newport second baseman, bringing in senior Candace Whittemore (Montpelier, Va. / Patrick Henry) in the eighth inning to tie the NCAA Tournament Super Regional series at 1-1. The two teams will battle it out in a deciding game three, which is set to begin around 4:30.
  • Softball Advances To National Championship

    Randolph-Macon softball will travel to Tyler, Texas to participate in the National Championship series after defeating the 11th-ranked Christopher Newport Captains twice on Saturday in the Newport News Super Regional. The first game went to extra innings, while the second came down to the final outs of the seventh inning. Senior pitcher Candace Whittemore (Montpelier, Va. / Patrick Henry) was named the Newport News Super Regional Pitcher of the Tournament while junior Shelby Hill (Mechanicsville, Va. / St. Margaret's) was named the Newport News Super Regional Player of the Tournament. The second win of the day also marked head coach Kevin Proffit’s 400th win as a head coach, all with Randolph-Macon.
  • Celiberti Homers In Super Regional

    Sophomore Ali Celiberti (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) homered in the second inning, helping softball cut into the #11 Christopher Newport lead, but CNU was able to add on in the later innings to win the first game of a three-game series in the NCAA Tournament Super Regionals.

    Randolph-Macon softball checked in as the 17th-ranked team in the Fastpitch News Power Rankings this week. R-MC has been in the Top 25 for the Power Rankings for much of the season.
  • Wood, Whittemore Named All-Region by NFCA

    Randolph-Macon seniors Savannah Wood (Tappahannock, Va. / Essex) and Candace Whittemore (Montpelier, Va. / Patrick Henry) were named All-Atlantic Region athletes by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, it was announced Wednesday afternoon. It’s not the first time either is being honored by the NFCA; Whittemore has earned an All-Region selection for the past three years, while Wood earned the honor as a sophomore.
  • Super Regional Information

    Randolph-Macon softball has advanced to its first Super Regional in program history. The team will travel to 11th-ranked Christopher Newport this weekend to compete in Super Regional Play. R-MC faced the Captains earlier this season and split the series with the then-No. 1 ranked Captains in Ashland, winning the first game 6-0 but falling in the second game 8-4.

    Randolph-Macon softball has advanced to the Super Regionals of the NCAA Tournament after non-stop rain and poor field conditions forced the end of the Ewing, N.J. regional at The College of New Jersey. With Randolph-Macon going undefeated in the Regional, the Yellow Jackets were declared the champions of the regional and will advance to face Christopher Newport. 
  • Softball Advances To Regional Final

    Randolph-Macon softball advanced to the NCAA Tournament Regional final game for the second year in a row as R-MC blanked Mount Aloysius for senior Candace Whittemore’s (Montpelier, Va. / Patrick Henry) second complete game shutout of the tournament. She spun another gem, striking out 12 while allowing just one hit and one walk. Senior Kerstin Roth (Yorktown, Va. / Grafton) hit an RBI triple in the top of the fifth inning to jump start the R-MC offense.
  • Softball Postponed

    Randolph-Macon softball will have to wait another day to play its NCAA Tournament Regional final. The game has been postponed from Sunday to Monday, May 13 at 9:00 AM. A second game would be played at 11:00 AM if neccessary.  You can follow all of the action (video and live stats) HERE. 
  • Davidson Squeezes Deeter Home as Whittemore Strikes Out 13 In Win

    Junior Sami Davidson (Stafford, Va. / Brooke Point) laid down a suicide squeeze with sophomore Kaitlyn Deeter (Roanoke, Va. / Lord Botetourt) coming home as Randolph-Macon won a tight 1-0 battle in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. Meantime, Whittemore tied her season-high for strikeouts, capturing 13 in a classic pitcher’s duel.

    Randolph-Macon Softball is traveling to Ewing, New Jersey to compete in the NCAA Tournament this weekend. The host for the double-elimination regional is The College of New Jersey. TCNJ has set up a Tournament Central page with all of the details for traveling to Ewing this weekend. Competition will take place on June Walker Field.

    Randolph-Macon Softball has received a bid to the NCAA Tournament as an at-large team marking the third year in the row that the team will participate in the chase for the NCAA Championship. R-MC will travel to New Jersey for the second year in a row, this time to Ewing Township, N.J. and the campus of The College of New Jersey.

    Randolph-Macon Softball has advanced to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament Championship game in its bid to win the team's second ODAC Title. The Yellow Jackets ended the day with a 3-1 victory against Lynchburg to advance directly to the final round in the minimal number of games to do so.

  • Softball Remains Ranked By FPN; Will Face #5 BC Friday

    Randolph-Macon softball remained ranked by Fastpitch News in its Division III Power Rankings this week. The Yellow Jackets checked in at No. 20 in the final power ranking before the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament. The Yellow Jackets also learned their seed and opponent on Friday; R-MC is the fourth seed and will face Bridgewater on Friday at 12:00 Noon.

    Senior right-hander Candace Whittemore (Montpelier, Va./Patrick Henry) tossed a three-hit shutout in the opener and senior shortstop Savannah Wood (Tappahannock, Va./Essex) had three runs and three RBI in the nightcap as the Randolph-Macon softball team swept an ODAC doubleheader from Roanoke on Saturday afternoon.

    Randolph-Macon softball is ranked eighth in the initial NCAA Regional Rankings of 2019. The polling period includes games through Monday, April 15. The rankings were announced earlier this week.
