SALEM, Va. – Randolph-Macon had three players score in double figures – including two with double-doubles – as the Yellow Jackets took care of the Roanoke Maroons 68-62 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play in Salem on Saturday. R-MC finishes the regular season at 19-5 and 12-4 in the ODAC. The team is currently ranked sixth in the South Region in the NCAA Regional Rankings.

The first quarter led to a slow start for R-MC. The Maroons were able to jump out to an 11-5 lead thanks to an 8-0 run. R-MC made its own 8-4 run in the closing minutes of the period, but Roanoke was still able to head into the second quarter up 22-17.

That's when R-MC turned on the jets. The Yellow Jackets outscored the Maroons 17-5 in the period, which began with a pair of free throws from sophomore Kelly Williams (Garysburg, N.C./Halifax Academy). Williams finished the game with 24 points and 17 rebounds while adding four blocks and four assists. She helped put R-MC ahead for good with her bucket at 7:17 remaining in the period. R-MC used buckets by sophomore Charlotte Woods (Richmond, Va. / Trinity) and junior Jayla Wade (Newport News, Va. / Heritage) as well as a free throw from freshman Becca Arrington (Amelia, Va./Amelia Academy) to go into the break at halftime with the 34-27 advantage. Arrington finished with the single point along with four rebounds and both an assist and a steal.

Roanoke hung with the Yellow Jackets through much of the third quarter, including cutting the lead to six with 6:23 remaining in the period at 39-33. But for the rest of the third, Randolph-Macon started to create real separation, with Williams starting it out with a pair of free throws. Williams went on a 5-0 run by herself before Woods added a layup and Wade put in five points alone over the course of the last minute and a half of play that pushed R-MC into the fourth quarter with the 53-37 lead.

Roanoke outscored R-MC in the fourth quarter 25-15, but the damage had been done for R-MC to get the 68-62 victory. Woods hit R-MC's only field goal of the quarter with 4:19 to go. The rest of the Yellow Jackets' points came from the charity stripe. Woods also finished the game with a double-double scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds.

The other double-digit Yellow Jacket was Wade with 11 points. She hauled in four rebounds and a pair of steals as well. Junior Kelsey Wisner (York, Pa. / Central York) had seven points, four rebounds and a pair of steals. Rounding out the starters was senior Teal Reynolds (Sterling, Va. / Potomac Falls) with two points and a pair of rebounds.

From the bench, freshman Elise Knobloch (Glenville, Pa. / Delone Catholic) contributed five points and pulled in two rebounds while taking away one steal. Junior Leara Shumate (Fishersville, Va. / Wilson Memorial) pulled in four rebounds and an assist.

R-MC scored 19 points on second chance opportunities – the team's season average – as well as 19 points on Roanoke turnovers.

Randolph-Macon will be the #2 seed for the ODAC Tournament, which begins this week. The team will play the winner of the #10/#7 matchup at 6:00 on Thursday, February 22. A full ODAC Tournament bracket will be released later today.
