  • Women’s Basketball Wraps Season With Milestones Reached

    For the sixth year in a row, Randolph-Macon women’s basketball walked away from its season with a winning record and a slew of honors in the postseason. A pair of Yellow Jacket juniors were honored by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference and two student-athletes received a weekly honor from the conference through the season. Head Coach Carroll LaHaye also attained a major milestone for the second season in a row in 2018-2019.

    Junior Michal Ross (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen) pulled down 10 rebounds, one away from her career high, and matched her career best with six steals, as the No. 4 Randolph-Macon women's basketball team dropped a 58-41 decision to eighth-seeded Shenandoah on Saturday evening in the semifinals of the ODAC Tournament.

    Junior Charlotte Woods (Richmond, Va./Trinity) had 10 points and 15 rebounds, while freshman Aimee DeBell (Studley, Va./Saint Gertrude) put up 15 points and grabbed a career-high 12 boards, as No. 4 Randolph-Macon women's basketball team outlasted fifth-seeded Virginia Wesleyan 72-66 in overtime on Friday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the ODAC Tournament to advance to Saturday's semifinals.

    Sophomore Becca Arrington (Amelia, Va./Amelia Academy) tallied a season-high 16 points, and junior Charlotte Woods (Richmond, Va./Trinity) recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 13 points and 14 rebounds, as the Randolph-Macon women's basketball team rallied to down Virginia Wesleyan 68-62 in ODAC action Tuesday evening in Crenshaw Gym.

    Randolph-Macon junior forward Kelly Williams (Garysburg, N.C./Halifax Academy) has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Player of the Week. This is the second honor for Williams this season and the third honor for a Yellow Jacket since the season kicked off.

    Junior Kelly Williams (Garysburg, N.C./Halifax Academy) recorded her first collegiate triple-double with 18 points, 19 rebounds and a career-best 11 blocks, while senior Kelsey Wisner (York, Pa./Central York) registered her first collegiate double-double with 13 points and a career-high 11 assists, as the Randolph-Macon women's basketball team won its eighth straight win, topping St. Mary's (Md.) 80-48 Thursday evening in Crenshaw Gym.

Williams recorded her eighth double-double in as many games this season. Ross has scored 20 points in three games in her career, with two coming in the most recent two games.
