TOWSON, Md. - Junior Alex Lightfoot (Fairfax, Va./WT Woodson) had six assists to go along with a pair of goals as the Randolph-Macon women's lacrosse team topped Goucher 14-1 Saturday afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets (3-1) had 11 different players score, as Lightfoot, senior Susie Snee (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll) and junior Alicia Hsieh (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) each had two goals to lead the club.
Sophomore Hannah Jones (Chestertown, Md./Kent County) scored just over three minutes into the game to put R-MC ahead to stay. Lightfoot scored six minutes later on a free position shot to give the Yellow Jackets a 2-0 lead. Lightfoot fed junior Frankie Willing (Salisbury, Md./Worcester) for a goal with 16:49 left in the first half for a 3-0 advantage. Lightfoot would score again three minutes later on a pass from sophomore Saunders Riley (Summerfield, N.C./Northern Guilford) as the lead grew to 4-0. Hsieh scored on a pass from Lightfoot with just under five minutes remaining as the visitors took a 5-0 lead at intermission. R-MC held a 26-3 advantage in shots over the Gophers (0-6) in the first period.
The Yellow Jackets would score the first five goals of the second half to build a 10-0 lead with 20 minutes remaining. Goals were scored by Snee, senior Laney Dee (Norfolk, Va./Bishop Sullivan), Hsieh, junior Lucy Andrews (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson) and sophomore Lexi Jones (Chestertown, Md./Kent County) with a pair of assists from Lightfoot and one from Riley. Goucher scored its goal with 12:30 left before R-MC tallied the final four goals over the last 10 minutes. The final goals were scored by freshman Julia Bain (Nokesville, Va./Patriot), freshman Jordan Dudley (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County), Snee and freshman Mary Castle (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis). Lightfoot assisted on two of the goals and Hsieh on the last goal with three minutes left to make the final 14-1.
Willing led R-MC with six ground balls, while Snee, Riley and senior Kristin Patrick (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) each had three ground balls. Snee and sophomore Olivia Mott (Dayton, Md./River Hill) paced the Yellow Jackets with two draw controls. Riley and senior Jess Bioleau (Bowie, Md./Elizabeth Seton) paced the victors with three caused turnovers.
Senior starter Allie Walker (Towson, Md./Mercy) recorded two saves in 22 minutes of play. Senior Jamie Langbein (Broodville, Md./Sherwood) had five saves in 23:30, while freshman Katie Thompson (Burke, Va./Lake Braddock) had one save in the final 15 minutes.
Randolph-Macon returns to action on Wednesday, March 15 with a 7 p.m. home contest against Christopher Newport on Day Field.
