R-MC Women's Soccer Records Sixth Shutout in 8-0 Win over SBC

ASHLAND, Va. - The Yellow Jacket defense notched its sixth shutout of the season, matching last season's total, as the Randolph-Macon women's soccer team registered an 8-0 ODAC victory Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened:

  • The Yellow Jackets had eight different players score in the match against the Vixens. Senior Jenna Burns (Glen Allen, Va./Deep Run) put in a deflected shot into the net in the ninth minute to put R-MC on the board.
  • Junior Madi Powell (Wake Forest, N.C./Cosby) notched her first goal of the season in the 23rd minute on an assist by Sophomore Taylor Drucker (Glen Allen, Va./Deep Run) to make it 2-0.
  • Freshman Bonita Soliday (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) scored with 10 minutes left in the first half, assisted by freshman Nicole Czyzewski (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian), as the lead grew to 3-0. Drucker and Czyzewski each had goals in the final five minutes as the Yellow Jackets led 5-0 at the break. Sophomore Courtney Eley (Woodbridge, Va./C.D. Hylton) assisted on Czyzewski's goal.
  • Freshman Randi Trenchard (Virginia Beach, Va./Landstown) had the first goal of the second half in the 63rd minute to make it 6-0. Trenchard assisted a goal by freshman Erin Lee (Smithfield, Va./Smithfield) two minutes later as the advantage grew to 7-0.
  • Sophomore Meghan Skevington (Richmond, Va./Deep Run), last season's leading scorer, netted her first goal of the season with 10 minutes remaining to make the final 8-0. Junior Ellis Mumford (Glen Allen, Va./Trinity) assisted on that final goal.

Inside The Numbers:

  • The R-MC defense did not allow the Vixens to attempt a shot. The Yellow Jackets had 75 shots, including 30 on goal.
  • Junior Christina Newman (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville) played in goal in the first half for the Yellow Jackets, while sophomore Rosa Paredes (North Chesterfield, Va./Meadowbrook) covered the second half.
