Sarah Almond Wins Seventh Career ODAC Championship; R-MC in Second-Place After Day One

GREENSBORO, NC – The 2012 ODAC Women's Swimming Championship kicked off Friday and after just five events, Randolph-Macon has already captured one league championship as senior Sarah Almond captured the 50-yard freestyle.

The Yellow Jackets stand in second-place as a team with a total of 209 points.  Washington and Lee leads the meet with 293 points.

Almond defended her ODAC Championship in the 50 yard free, posting a time of 24.32 to capture her seventh league title over the last two years.

Lizzy Buckley (5:15.22) and Rebecca Stevenson (5:16.94) finished second and third, respectively in the 500 freestyle for the Yellow Jackets.

The 200 yard freestyle relay team comprised of Almond, Buckley, Ellie Shea and Kelsey Bagley-Hall finished second with a time 1:38.71, just behind Washington and Lee's team that turned in a time of 1:38.26.

Almond, Buckley, Kellianne Mullin and Emily Maltby closed out the day with a second-place finish in the 400 yard medley relay with a time of 4:03.19.
