ARLINGTON, Va. - The Randolph-Macon women's swimming team won the 200 Free Relay in the meet's final event to rally past Marymount 106-98 Saturday afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets trailed 94-93 after 10 events. The team of senior Sierra Collins (Ronda, N.C./Salem Academy), junior Savannah Pierce (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne), junior Megan Granger (Midlothian, Va./Manchester) and freshman Lauren McCoy finished first in the 200 Free Relay in 1:44.93 to secure the 11 first-place points and seal the victory. The Saints took second for four points, while the quartet of sophomore Haylie Moore (Lexington, N.C./South Davidson), senior Rachael Taylor (Eldridge, Md./Archbishop Spalding), sophomore Victoria Lewan (Fairfax, Va./Robinson) and freshman Danielle Utz (Forest, Va./Jefferson Forest) placed third for two points, giving the Yellow Jackets a 106-98 victory.
Junior Kata Kylliainen (Towson, Md./Loch Raven) recorded a pair of firsts for the visitors. She won the 1000 Free in 11:05.67 and the 500 Free in 5:22.32. She teamed with freshman Laney Sanchez (Midlothian, Va./Clover Hill), freshman Zoe Campbell (Annandale, Va../W.T.Woodson) and freshman Kacey Pool (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) to take second in the 200 Medley Relay to kick off the meet.
Sanchez won the 200 Free in 2:03.04. She was second in the 100 Breast in 1:12.53.
McCoy finished first in the 100 Back in 1:03.45. She took second in the 50 Free in 26.41.
Pool won the 100 Free in 57.43.
Moore also took second in the 100 Fly in 1:07.26.
Randolph-Macon returns to the pool on Dec 2-3 at the Yellow Jacket Invitational in Chesterfield, Va.
