NORFOLK, Va. – The R-MC women's tennis team earned a 9-0 win over Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets remain in second place in the ODAC with a 9-1 conference record.
In doubles, seniors Caitlin Delmas (Asheville, N.C./ K-12 International Academy) and Toni McDonald (Richmond, Va./ Varina) earned a 8-3 victory at #1. Playing at number two doubles were seniors Melissa Tomlin (Prince George, Va./ Prince George) and Molly Jesseman (Williamsburg, Va./ Warhill), who won 8-4.
Picking up the third victory for R-MC in doubles was the pair of freshman Landon Aud (Fishersville, Va./ Wilson Memorial) and sophomore Stephanie Yeager (Fairfax, Va./ Robinson Secondary), who won 8-1.
In singles, Delmas won her match against Jackie Lee at the number one flight, 6-1, 6-0.
Sophomore Gaby Tersigni (Yorktown, Va./ York) and Tomlin both won their matches without dropping a game, winning 6-0, 6-0.
Freshman Kristin Dantzler (Williamsburg, Va./ York) won at number four 6-0, 6-2, while Jesseman won at five 6-1, 6-2. McDonald won her match at number six with a 6-1, 6-0 win.
R-MC is now 14-2 overall and will be back in action on Saturday with matches against Harford Community College and York in Harford, Md.
