Women’s Tennis Sweeps Penn State-Abington 9-0

ASHLAND, Va. – Randolph-Macon Women's Tennis swept the visiting Nittany Lions from Penn State-Abington 9-0 on Thursday afternoon at the Banks Tennis Center. Both junior Gaby Tersigni (Yorktown, Va. / York) and freshman Olivia Uzer (McLean, Va. / Langley) did not cede a single set all day.

Tersigni won her matchup against PSA's Stephanie Jin in a 6-0, 6-0 decision from the #1 singles position. She and her partner, Uzer, won against the duo of Michelle Mirjani and Marta Tymchenko by the score of 8-0 from the #2 slot. The pair are 2-0 on the season while Tersigni is 2-1 and Uzer is 2-0 in singles. Uzer won her match with Lauren Drigalla in singles 6-0, 6-0 in the #3 spot to help secure her second win.

The #1 duo of junior Stephanie Yeager (Fairfax, Va. / Robinson Secondary) and sophomore Kristin Dantzler (Williamsburg, Va. / York) won 8-0 against their doubles competitors Jin and Drigalla. The Yellow Jacket pair are 3-0 on the season. Dantzler also won her singles competition from the #2 spot by the score of 6-0, 6-3. She is also undefeated on the season thus far at 3-0 in singles.

Sophomore Landon Aud (Fishersville, Va. / Wilson Memorial) won her singles match from the #4 spot against Tymchenko by the score of 6-3, 6-0. Aud is undefeated this season as well at 3-0. The final competing Yellow Jacket was junior Tory Stribling (Troy, Va. / Fluvanna County) in the #5 spot, who won 6-1, 6-2. Stribling secures her first win of the season with the victory.

Freshman Isabel Wadsworth (Lake Wales, Fla. / Lake Wales) secured a win by default, as did the duos of senior Sarah Hinson (Nashville, N.C. / Northern Nash) and Aud.

The win moves R-MC to 2-1 on the season while PSA drops to 1-2. The Yellow Jackets' match against Guilford on Sunday has been postponed due to the weather forecast. The Yellow Jackets next face nationally ranked #14 Washington and Lee next Tuesday at 4:00 PM.
