Women’s Tennis Sweeps Wasps

EMORY, Va. – Randolph-Macon won up and down the lineup Sunday afternoon as the team returned to action after two weeks off the court. But the break didn't take anything off the edge of the Yellow Jackets (5-3, 3-1 ODAC) as the team took a 9-0 decision from Emory & Henry (3-8, 0-5 ODAC).

Sophomore Kristin Dantzler (Williamsburg, Va. / York) and junior Stephanie Yeager (Fairfax, Va. / Robinson Secondary) got it started with an 8-1 victory over their opponents, Katie Meade and Kaiti Sheaves. The duo is now 5-3 on the season, all from the #1 doubles spot.

#2 doubles duo, junior Gaby Tersigni (Yorktown, Va. / York) and freshman Olivia Uzer (McLean, Va. / Langley) defeated their opponents, Bri Pierce and Tessa Johnston 8-1. Tersigni and Uzer are 5-1, all from the #2 doubles spot.

R-MC's #3 doubles pair, sophomore Landon Aud (Fishersville, Va. / Wilson Memorial) and senior Sarah Hinson (Nashville, N.C. / Northern Nash) also got a win, defeating Kala Curtis and Kelsey Holt 8-2. The duo is 4-0 on the season as the #3 doubles pairing.

With the 3-0 lead heading into the singles competition, the top two Yellow Jackets in singles swept their respective opponents.

In the #1 singles spot, Tersigni defeated Meade 6-0, 6-0. Yeager swept Curtis as well 6-0, 6-0. Tersigni is 5-3 this season, all from the #1 singles spot, while Yeager improved to 3-4, all from the #2 spot.

Dantzler scored a quick win as well, defeating Johnston 6-0, 6-2. She is now 6-2 on the season, including 5-2 in the #3 singles slot.

Uzer and Sheaves battled in the #4 singles spot, but Uzer came out on top 6-3, 6-4. It was one of the closer wins for Uzer this season. She is 5-2 on the season, including 4-2 from the #4 spot.

Aud also faced a tough competition in the first set. She battled with Pierce, but came out on top 7-5. Then, she swept the second set 6-0. Aud is 6-2 this season, including 4-2 from the #5 spot.

Junior Tory Stribling (Troy, Va. / Fluvanna County) rounded out the R-MC lineup, winning 6-3, 6-0 against Ellington King. It marked Stribling's second win of the season, one each in #5 and #6 singles.

The Yellow Jackets will visit Sweet Briar on Tuesday at 4:00 PM before returning home to the Banks Tennis Center on Wednesday against Virginia Wesleyan at 4:00 PM.
