Women’s Tennis Earns Second Sweep Of Weekend

ASHLAND, Va. – Randolph-Macon Women's Tennis earned its second sweep of the weekend, defeating Emory & Henry 8-0 at the Banks Tennis Center Sunday morning. The Yellow Jackets got resounding victories all the way through the lineup as weather cut some of the match short.

Due to impending rain, singles action took place first. In No. 1 Singles action, senior Gaby Tersigni (Yorktown, Va. / York) defeated her opponent Katie Meade 6-0, 6-2. Tersigni is now 2-0 on the season.

Junior Morgan Fuqua (Richmond, VA / Mills Godwin) tallied a straight-sets victory at No. 2 Singles over her opponent Kaitlyn Sheaves, winning 6-0, 6-0. She is also 2-0 in her first season at Randolph-Macon.

Junior Kristin Dantzler (Williamsburg, Va. / York) scored a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 3 Singles against her Wasp opponent Vanna Summers.

At No. 4 Singles, senior Stephanie Yeager (Fairfax, Va. / Robinson Secondary) won 6-2, 6-0 as well against E&H's Logan Graham.

Returning All-ODAC Second Teamer, junior Landon Aud (Fishersville, Va. / Wilson Memorial) scored a 7-5, 6-2 win against her Wasp counterpart Bri Pierce at No. 5 Singles.

Rounding out the lineup at singles was freshman Gabby Cifuentes (Stafford, Va. / Paul VI High School), who defeated Callie Pollard 6-0, 6-4.

In doubles action, Yeager and Fuqua defeated Summers and Graham 8-1 at No. 1 Doubles. In No. 2 Doubles, Tersigni and Dantzler defeated Meade and Sheaves 8-0. Aud and Cifuentes were not able to finish their doubles match against Pierce and Pollard.

The team will travel to Guilford for a 2:00 PM match on Sunday, March 10.
