ATLANTA, VA – The Randolph-Macon College Volleyball team won three of its four matches this weekend at the Emory University Homecoming Invitational over the weekend.
The Yellow Jackets are now 13-3 on the season and Mallory Carter was named to the All-Tournament team after registering 55 kills and 43 digs in four matches.
In its first match of the tournament, R-MC earned a hard fought 25-17, 25-23, 17-25, 21-25,16-14 victory over Berry College. Carter had 26 kills offensively and 20 digs defensively. Jessica Sears put away 14 kills in the victory and also had 19 digs. Hillary Jessee knocked down eight kills in the win, while Bailey Troia had 46 assists. Marli Dabareiner had 23 digs for R-MC to go along with 14 from Caroline Brown and 13 from Troia.
After closing out day one of the tournament with a 3-0 loss to the host Eagles who are currently ranked No. 4 in the Nation by the AVCA, the Jackets rebounded on Saturday, defeating ODAC foe Virginia Wesleyan and Martin-Methodist in three games each.
In its second win over VWC this season, Carter and Tori Puryear had 12 and 10 kills, respectively to pace the Jackets. Dabareiner had 15 digs on the defensive side of the net for R-MC, Sears chipped in with 11 stops, while adding eight kills offensively as well. Troia dished out 36 helpers and Mallory James had five kills as well.
Randolph-Macon closed out the weekend with a 25-15, 25-19, 25-20 over Martin-Methodist. Carter posted double-digit kills once again with 13, while Sears had nine. Puryear and Danielle Moore each had six kill in the win for R-MC. Maggie Holbert had 22 assists, while Dabareiner had 15 digs and Casey West had 1.5 blocks to pace the defense.
The Yellow Jackets will be off until Wednesday when they travel to Bridgewater to take on the Eagles in an ODAC match at 7:00p.m.
