Jackets Maintain #1 Standing

ASHLAND, Va.—The Randolph-Macon volleyball team topped conference opponent Virginia Wesleyan 3-0 (26-24, 25-14, 25-20) tonight in Crenshaw Gymnasium.

The Marlins (14-11, 7-4 ODAC) refused to go down easily, capitalizing on R-MC errors in both the first and third sets. The Jackets (19-6, 10-1 ODAC) would ultimately prevail, however.

Middle-hitter Tori Puryear (Madison, VA / Madison) led the Yellow Jacket offense with 9 kills on 19 attempts and 1 error (.421). Puryear also tallied 3 blocks. Fellow senior Hillary Jessee (Warm Springs, VA / Bath County) added 8 kills.

The R-MC offense was supported by junior setter Bailey Troia (Virginia Beach, VA / Ocean Lakes) who recorded 21 assists alongside sophomore Riley Martin (Crozet, VA / Western Albemarle) with 17.

The Yellow Jackets will travel to St. Mary's (MD) Friday, October 25 for a 6:00 PM match.
