ASHLAND, Va.—The #7 Bridgewater College Eagles took #2 favorite Randolph-Macon into five competitive sets of ODAC Quarterfinals volleyball that would ultimately see a 3-2 Eagles win.
The Yellow Jackets won the first match 25-21 to gain the early edge. Bridgewater (20-15, 6-6 ODAC) won the second match 25-21 and continued to respond with back-and-forth play through five. R-MC out-blocked the Eagles 10-4 but had the disadvantage in hitting percentage (.210-.152).
Sophomore outside-hitter Courtney Lowers (Suffolk, VA / Nasmond River) had a game-high 20 kills on 51 attempts (.333). Senior Tori Puryear (Madison, VA / Madison) followed with 12 kills. Setter Riley Martin (Crozet, VA / Western Albemarle) finished with a team-high 28 assists alongside junior Bailey Troia (Virginia Beach, VA / Ocean Lakes) who recorded 19. Senior Libero Marli Dabareiner (Hardy, VA / North Cross) finished the night with a game-high 21 digs.
Currently the Randolph-Macon volleyball team is 22-7, 10-2 ODAC, and ranked 8th in the South Region.
