Dabareiner Competes for Spot on US National Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Senior volleyball player Marli Dabareiner (Hardy, VA / North Cross) has taken her talents half across the nation to participate in the U.S. Women’s National Team Open Tryouts taking place February 21-23 in the Sports Center II at the U.S. Olympic Training Center (USOTC) in Colorado Springs, Colo.

248 athletes from 106 colleges and universities are participating this weekend for spots on U.S. Women’s National Team and/or U.S. Collegiate National Teams program (formerly U.S. Women’s Senior A2 Teams). Dabareiner finished her second tryout this afternoon as a contender for one of the libero slots.

This past season Dabareiner earned her fourth All-ODAC honor in as many years. The 2013 campaign marked her third season as the ODAC’s top libero with 474 digs (4.84 digs per set). During her career she recorded 1,838 total digs, which set a new R-MC All-Time record. Dabareiner also holds three All-Time slots in single-season digs; 3rd with 492 (2012), 5th with 474 (2013), and 8th with 466 (2011).
