FOREST, Va. – Randolph-Macon senior Courtney Lowers (Suffolk, Va. / Nansemond River) was named Old Dominion Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the third time this season, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Lowers recorded 75 kills over four matches last week for the Yellow Jackets (22-7, 11-0 ODAC).
She helped R-MC claim the top spot in the ODAC and stay undefeated in the regular season with 17 kills in a 3-1 win over Washington and Lee on Wednesday, Oct. 28.
The Yellow Jackets travelled to the Emory Invitational on Oct. 30 and 31. R-MC posted a 2-1 record for the weekend. Lowers recorded 56 kills at the Invitational and was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Lowers led R-MC with 17 kills while adding nine digs and five blocks in the sweep of No. 17 Clarkson on Friday, Oct. 30.
R-MC, who is ranked third in the South Region, defeated Millsaps 3-1 on Saturday afternoon before falling 3-0 to Berry College, who is ranked second in the South Region, later in the day. Lowers tallied 26 kills and 14 digs against Millsaps and added 13 kills against Berry.
Lowers leads the team with 368 kills and tops the ODAC, averaging 4.18 kills per set. She currently ranks second on the R-MC Career List with 1,329 kills.
The Yellow Jackets have concluded the regular season and enter postseason play in first place in the ODAC. R-MC will entertain eighth-seeded Lynchburg on Wednesday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. in Crenshaw Gymnasium. The Yellow Jackets posted a 3-0 victory over the Hornets on Sept. 23.
