2011 ODAC Tournament / Regular Season Champions
The Yellow Jackets won the ODAC Tournament for the second consecutive year. The Jackets started the conference tournament off with a 3-0 victory over the wasps of Emory & Henry followed by a 3-2 semi-final win over Lynchburg. In the final game, the Jackets dominated the generals of Washington & Lee and reigned champions with a 3-1 victory. Mallory Carter, Marli Dabareiner, Joelle Gross, Maggie Holbert, and Hillary Jesse were all named to the ODAC All-Tournament Team. Next, the Jackets would take on John's Hopkins in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. A 3-1 victory over the Blue Jays would advance the Jackets to the second round of the tournament. A powerful Emory squad would defeat the Jackets in the second second.
Overall, the Jackets compiled a 24-6 record and were 9-1 in conference play. In 14 matches throughout the season, the Jackets did not lose a single set. Several student-athletes received awards on the season including Mallory Carter who was named AVCA All-American, AVCA All-South Region, All-ODAC First Team, VaSID First Team All-State, ODAC All-Tournament Team, ODAC Player of the Week, AVCA National Player of the Week, NCAA Volleyball Newport News, and Regional All-Tournament Team. Marli Dabareiner was selected to AVCA All-American, AVCA All-South Region, All-ODAC First Team, and VaSID First Team All-State. Jessica Sears received honors of ODAC Volleyball Scholar Athlete of the Year, All-ODAC Second Team, and ODAC All-Academic Team. Two Yellow Jackets, Tori Puryear and Bailey Troia, were also selected to the all-ODAC Third Team.
