2017 ODAC Tournament & Regular Season Champions
2017 marks the fourth year in a row that Randolph-Macon has won the ODAC Regular Season and the third consecutive year that the Jackets went 11-0 in conference play and brought in their third straight ODAC Championship. The Yellow Jackets captured the conference title with sweeps vs. Eastern Mennonite in the quarterfinals and Lynchburg in the semi-finals. The Jackets defeated Washington & Lee 3-2 (20-25, 25-18, 22-25, 25-20, 16-14) in the conference final to capture their third title in a row and sixth Tournament title in program history. Emily Fitzwater, Miranda Hall, and Rebecca McGilvery were named to the ODAC All-Tournament Team.
The Yellow Jackets automatically advanced to the NCAA Tournament where they would face a strong Swarthmore squad in the first round. Randolph-Macon ended the season with a 23-7 overall record under head coach, Bill Rogers. This is the fourth consecutive year Rogers has received the honor and six total.
Numerous Yellow Jackets received honors on the season. Sophomore, Miranda Hall, was named an All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. In addition to AVCA Third Team selection, Hall was ODAC Player of the Year, named to the AVCA All-South Region team, and received All-ODAC First Team. Along with Hall, Junior, Mariah Clark, was also recognized by the AVCA earning Honorable Mention All-American as well as All-ODAC First Team. Seniors, Sam Salladay and Erin Quinn joined Clark and Hall on All-ODAC First Team and received top honors from the VaSID. Salladay was named to the All-State First Team for Libero/Defensive Specialist and Quinn earned All-State Second Team recognition. Quinn also was selected to The 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District® Volleyball Team. Senior, Rachel McGilvery, was named to the All-ODAC Second Team for the second year in a row.
